Experimental study on the compressive failure mechanisms of damaged composite laminates
Abstract
The results of studies on compressive failure mechanisms of composite laminates containing holes or impact damage are presented, based on experimental investigations performed in recent years and on references. Specifically, impact damage failure mechanisms and compressive failure mechanisms after low-velocity impact of composite laminates are detailed, and four failure modes are described. Finally, the analytical methods for predicating compressive strength of impacted composite laminates based on delamination fracture mechanics are discussed.
