A color map of Jupiter from spectrophotometric observations in 1987
Abstract
A map of Jupiter's color distribution in different modifications is presented on the basis of photometric processing of 338 spectrograms of the planet's central meridian which were obtained during three nights in October 1987. The darkening coefficients for the edge of the northern and southern polar regions for different longitudes are determined. Results of a preliminary analysis of the characteristics of the latitudinal and longitudinal distribution of color differences on Jupiter during this period are presented.
