Expressions for k and epsilon near walls
Abstract
A set of algebraic relationships is proposed in the interest of modeling the nearwall region of a turbulent boundary layer for the distributions of k and subsequent epsilon. The resulting expressions are compared with previous derivations by Spalding (1967) and Laufer's (1954) data. The present expressions show an improvement over Spalding's work in the predictions of k and epsilon distributions from the wall to the pipe axis or the wall to the edge of the boundary layer. The expressions could be used in conjunction with twoequation turbulent models for numerical calculations.
