The orbit of 203 Pompeja and the mass of Ceres
Abstract
From an analysis of the motion of the minor planet 203 Pompeja a value for the mass of Ceres is determined. The result (4.7 +/-0.3 10 exp -10 solar masses) is the lowest value obtained up to now. The importance of adding Ceres as a perturbing body in the determination of minor-planet orbits is emphasized, and the value of rereducing older observations is discussed.
