A study of the NE II 2p4 3s - 2p4 3p transition probabilities
Abstract
The absolute transition probabilities of the 2p4 3s - 2p4 3p transition array are obtained via utilization of the lifetimes of Ne II levels 204 3p in combination with the multiplet branching ratios. Data for Ne II and F I are compared in order to find more accurate values of the transition probabilities of both species and to note peculiarities. Excitation energies of neon levels are found to be 2.13 times higher (13 percent) when the terms belong to the first ionization limit, or 2.0 times larger for the displaced terms.
