The evolution and synchronization of angular-momentum-losing G-type main sequence binaries
Abstract
A new law for rapid rotators is presented. This law is definitely different from the exponential expressions derived for slow rotators from cluster members of known age. From a comparison between the computed and observed synchronization of some well studied binary systems, the amount of AM transferred from the orbit to the components is discussed. There is strong evidence that this transfer is greater than predicted by current theories of tidal interaction.
