Spectra of wind-velocity fluctuations in the middle atmosphere
Abstract
An empirical model of intradiurnal wind-velocity fluctuations in the middle atmosphere is developed on the basis of rocket sounding data. Estimates of the spectral density of the fluctuations and of the spectra of phase shifts and coherence functions are obtained for three altitude intervals. It is shown that, for small altitude gradients (2-10 km), correlations of the wind-velocity fluctuations at different levels are sufficiently high.
