Interfacial oscillators
Abstract
The onset and eventual nonlinear sustainment of interfacial oscillations consisting of either transverse or longitudinal waves are analytically discussed. The case of a liquid open to air is addressed, including the role of surfactants, and the liquid-liquid interface is examined. Nonlinear capillary-gravity oscillations are considered along with limit cycle oscillations and predictions for ground and microgravity conditions. Finally, solitons excited by the Marangoni effect are discussed.
