The Uniform Temperature reference (UTR) block and the Temperature Measurement System (TMS) are described with respect to accurate determination of temperatures in a thermal vacuum. The general approach involves utilizing the UTR isothermal reference in the thermocouple-dependent TMS, and tests of the resulting system are conducted to determine the fluctuation of average uniformity for the block for the best and worst cases. Based on an extensive error analysis, stricter measurement tolerances of the thermocouple wires and other improvements are proposed to make the system more accurate.
