Simultaneous eccentricity and longitude control for Intelsat VII
Abstract
The algorithm developed earlier for controlling eccentricity and longitudinal motion of the Japanese satellite Superbird is modified in order to better suit the E/W stationkeeping requirements of Intelsat VII. As with Superbird, eccentricity control is achieved using an expanded sun-pointing perigee method that includes long-period lunisolar effects. The simultaneous control of the longitudinal motion is achieved by apportioning of the required tangential Delta-V for eccentricity control among the number of maneuvers. The present algorithm was verified in a detailed simulation which included measurement and execution errors.
