Technology advances in reconfigurable contoured beam reflector antennas in Europe
Abstract
European developments in reconfigurable antenna technology are reviewed. Methods for obtaining a reconfigurable antenna are considered, including the use of a reflector fed by a multielement feed array and the use of singly fed shaped reflector antennas. Several reconfigurable coverage scanarios are examined, including the Afsat and Intelsat C-band antenna systems. Also, consideration is given to feasibility and preliminary design studies on Ku-band reconfigurable antennas.
