Hexadecapole systematics in the interacting boson model
Abstract
The role of the hexadecapole degree of freedom in the description of band systematics in the rare-earth deformed nuclei is discussed. Using the 1/N expansion technique, it is shown that a self consistent treatment of the quadrupole and hexadecapole modes can describe experimental systematics in the interacting boson model.
