Microlensing calculations with a hierarchical tree code: New results
Abstract
Results of microlensing calculations based on the hierarchical tree code are presented, considering four different regimes, and particular attention is given to surface mass densities of sigma yields 1 and their macroimages, microlensing at macrocaustics, and the effects of a mass spectrum with lower cutoff masses. The inverse ray-shooting method is employed to obtain two-dimensional distributions of the magnification factors for extended sources. The results of raising the sigma value to 0.95, of microlensing at macrocaustic, and of using a mass function with different lower cutoffs are discussed, and the macroimages are presented graphically.
