Synchronization of the LAPTV adative filter with input statistics
Abstract
A discrete-time linear, almost periodically time-varying (LAPTV) adaptive filter (AF) that admits the output modulator structure (OMS) was proposed for processing almost cyclostationary (ACS) signals. The problem of synchronization of this LAPTV AF with the input ACS signals is encountered in practical applications. An intrinsic frequency tracking scheme is proposed for synchronizing the LAPTV AF with varying input statistics. The tracking algorithm is presented and analyzed and it is shown that the algorithm converges if the step size (a positive constant controlling the rate of adjustment) meets specified criteria. Two simulations were performed to evaluate the transient and steady-state behaviors of the tracking scheme. It is concluded that the proposed scheme succeeds in keeping the LAPTV AF synchronous with the input statistics, with a controllable performance degradation.
