Thermal transport in a pure fluid near the critical point
Abstract
The Navier-Stokes equations written for a supercritical Van der Waals gas are solved by means of the PISO algorithm. The response of a slablike container to a slow boundary heating is studied on the short acoustic time scale. The asymptotic analysis performed on the same time scale is in good agreement with the scaling laws of the numerics. It is also shown that the adiabatic heating phenomena due to the very strong compressibility of the supercritical fluid is already present on the acoustic scale.
