A numerical study on implosion of polygonally interacting shocks and consecutive explosion in a box
Abstract
A TVD finite-difference scheme of shock-capturing type is presently used to numerically investigate the implosion of a polygonally interacting shock system and a consecutive explosion in a box of square cross-section. The results obtained demonstrate that the shock interactions of the imploding phase from every vertex of a given polygon are symmetric with respect to the bisector of each vertex. Attention is given to the interaction of the exploding shock with a contact discontinuity; this interaction varies with initial diaphragm pressure ratio.
