Resonance transformations of transversely bounded surface waves in focusing waveguide gratings
Abstract
A theory is developed for the diffractional reflection (and transmission) of transversely bounded surface H and E waves with simultaneous focusing in a corrugated quasi-periodic grating with curved lines formed on the surface of an optical waveguide with an arbitrary layerwise inhomogeneous transverse distribution of dielectric permittivity. The approach proposed here makes it possible to optimize the parameters of waveguide gratings for various focal plane positions and different degrees of focusing of mutually transforming surface light waves. Expressions are derived which describe light beam redistribution during the resonance-diffraction transformation of two focused surface waves.
