Determination of the absorption coefficient in the case of spherical symmetry
Abstract
The problem of determining the absorption coefficient from incident and output radiation from a radiating nonscattering gas in the case of spherical symmetry is reduced to that of solving a nonlinear integral Volterra equation of the second kind. The existence, uniqueness, and stability of solutions to this problem are investigated in the first and second approximations of volume emission in a class of continuous absorption coefficients.
