Effects of receiver noise on space communication link
Abstract
The effects of noise level of the ground station receiver on the performance of the space-to-earth communication links are investigated using a computer based tool. Link availability is used as the performance index. A computer model to study the sensitivity of RF links to the changes in the pre-amplifier NF is described. The simulation results for two RF links operating at 12.725 GHz and 21.0 GHz are presented. This new technique can aid system engineers in evaluating G/T requirements for the specified link performance.
