Statistical parameters of interference above a randomly rough interface
Abstract
The statistical theory of diffraction is used to investigate the characteristics of interference arising in a tropospheric channel because of clutter due to the underlying surface. Systematic errors in the measurement of the signal parameters, the energy spectra, and the variances of the fluctuations of parameter values with respect to the mean values are determined. An analysis is made of the spectrum of the direction-finding fluctuations of a point source moving horozintally above a rough surface with shallow roughness.
