Influence of the group structure of atmospheric radio noise on its statistical characteristics

Analytic expressions are presented for characteristic function and autocorrelation function of atmospheric radio noise for the Poisson-Poisson (PP) model of atmospherics flux. It is found that applications of PP and simple Poisson models yield equivalent results for wideband reception. The specific nature of the PP model is most evident in the case of strong band narrowing or when nonstationarity is taken into consideration.
