Large amplitude waves and fields in plasmas. Proceedings. 2. Week of the Spring College on Plasma Physics, Trieste (Italy), 22 - 26 May 1989.
Abstract
The present conference discusses nonlinear effects in plasmas, the excitation of large-amplitude plasma waves, the modulational instability of colinear waves, the nonlinear dynamics of wave systems with spatiotemporal collapses, nonlinear Langmuir waves in stimulated Raman scattering, the nonlinear optics of plasmas, density caviton generation in laser-produced plasmas, and plasma wake-field acceleration and focusing. Also discussed are the wavebreaking of longitudinal plasma oscillation, self-organization in large-amplitude waves, caviton dynamics in strong Langmuir turbulence, the stimulated scattering of large-amplitude waves in the ionosphere, ultrastrong Langmuir turbulence, the 'plasma undulator', and driven Alfven vortices.
