Identifying τ as a nonleptonic superparticle
Abstract
Given a lepton number L=1 for e, νe, μ, and νμ, all available data at present are compatible with L=0 for τ and ντ. A model with such an assignment is shown to be as natural as the conventional one in a supersymmetric extension of the standard model. Processes such as pp¯ (or pp)-->τ+/-τ+/-+ two quark jets as well as ep-->τ-τ-+ one quark jet+missing energy (pT) provide unique signatures of this possibility.
