Application of the HEAO-1 A-2 Low Energy Detector Data to the Diffuse X-Ray Sky Background
Abstract
The Diffuse X-Ray Sky Background over the energy range 0.2-3 keV is examined using data from the HEAO-1 A-2 Low Energy Detectors (LED). A value for the extragalactic power law normalization of 10.4 +/- 0.5 is obtained. The galactic spectral components of the power law residual are found to be well explained at the North and South Ecliptic Poles by a standard unabsorbed/absorbed two temperature thermal plasma model. A published galactic halo model is tested and found not to provide acceptable results based on LED galactic latitude data and the spatial location of the model 1/4 keV energy band emission.
