Spectroscopic observations of the Wigner crystallization of two-dimensional electrons in a strong transverse magnetic field
Abstract
A new line in the radiant recombination spectra of two-dimensional electrons in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures placed in a strong transverse magnetic field has been detected at low temperatures (about 0.4 K) when the filling factor reaches a critical value of 0.28. Depending on the magnetic field intensity, temperature, and disorder, the properties of this line are related to Wigner crystallization in a system of interacting electrons.
