The cosmological halos as a new test for the intergalactic gas.
Abstract
A test for the electron density of a general intergalactic gas is proposed, based on observations of the local Thomson scattering of radiation (light echos or cosmological halos) around quasars with high redshifts. The estimates made show that observations of cosmic halos around radio-loud quasars by polarized flux density synthesis with tangential polarization make it possible to measure the mean density parameter of the intergalactic gas with an instrumental accuracy of approximately 0.01.
