Effect of atmospheric pressure variations on thermal power measurements with radiometric microcalorimeters
Abstract
Fluctuations in the output signals from microcalorimeters were found to be correlated with temperature variations resulting from adiabetic expansion and compression of the air with atmospheric pressure changes. A microcalorimeter assembly containing twin sample cells with thermoelectric sensors was sealed in an airtight enclosure. This reduced fluctuations in the baseline output of the microcalorimeter by about an order of magnitude.
