Carbon monoxide lasers
Abstract
The physicochemical processes taking place in the active medium of gas discharge lasers operating at the vibrational-rotational transitions of the CO molecule are reviewed. Methods of molecular reaction control and conditions of the chemical equilibrium of the laser gas mixture in a closed volume are discussed. An analysis is made of the effect of mixture components on the laser parameters and longevity. Attention is also given to the factors and mechanisms limiting the repeatability of the active medium parameters; methods of controlling these parameters are discussed.
