The design and goals of the 30 m VLBI antenna in Weilheim-Lichtenau are addressed. The ground control station, the interferometry, first test results, and plans for further development of the station are summarized. Planned activities using the station for deep space navigation, for astrometry, as a VLBI reference system for satellite navigation, to test the general theory of relativity, and for space VLBI are briefly described.
