On the steady axisymmetric shear flow past a slender body of revolution
Abstract
The steady axisymmetric shear flow of a viscous fluid is dealt with by linearized approximation. The behavior of the flow at a large value of viscous Reynolds number, Re, is studied. Two characteristic types of flows are shown. In the first case, the flow field reduces to a potential flow with thin boundary layer. In the second case, the flow is similar to the shear flow at low Reynolds number.
