Karst on Mars? The thumbprint terrain
Abstract
Some instances of the so-called "thumbprint" terrain of the northern plains of Mars may be caused by differential solution of large carbonate deposits occupying low-lying areas, and may represent an analog to the arid karst of the Nullarbor Plain in Australia, based on the comparative morphology of the two regions.
