Supernova 1945B in NGC 5236
Abstract
IBVS 3497 notes the discovery by W. Liller on plates taken at what was then Harvard's station in Bloemfontein of a supernova 97" west and 175" south of the nucleus of NGC 5236 = M83. First detected at B = 14.2 on 1945 July 13.9, it was followed to Aug. 7.9. Supernovae 1923A, 1950B, 1957D, 1968L, and 1983N also occurred in this galaxy.
