A theory of gravity with broken symmetry
Abstract
The consequences of introducing the concept of symmetrybreaking in the gravitational theory of Callan et al. (1970) is investigated. In particular, it is shown that in their original theory the chaotic inflationary scenario does not work. However, this is not the case in the broken symmetric gravitational theory which is developed in this paper. The resulting theory is practically indistinguishable from Einstein's theory at low energies but differs substantially from it as the Planck scale is approached.
