The Distribution of Warm Ionized Gas in NGC 891: Erratum
Abstract
In the Letter "The Distribution of Warm Ionized Gas in NGC 891" by Richard J. Rand, Shrinivas R. Kulkarni, and J. Jeff Hester (Ap. J. [Letters], 352, L1 [1990]), there is an error in the equation for the form of the ionized gas emission components used in our modeling of the gas distribution. The scale heights z_0_ and R_0_ shown in the equation and in Table 1 refer to the electron density distributions, not the emission distributions. Therefore, the equation for the emission components, instead of reading <n^2^_ephi>e^-|z|/z_0_^e^- R/R_0_^, should read <n^2^_e_ φ>e^-2|z|/z_0_^e^-2R/R_0_^. None of the calculated quantities, results, or conclusions of the Letter are affected by this error.
