The cause ofthe pulsations ofthe white dwarf component in V 471 Tauri.
Abstract
The cause of the observed pulsations in the white dwarf component of V471 Tau is studied. A number of 0.8-solar mass DA white dwarfs are tested against nonradial oscillations and unstable g(+) modes are found in the period range of 100-1000 sec. Some of the predicted unstable periods are in relatively good agreement with those observed in the Hyades binary V471 Tau.
