Vortex models of a pseudoturbulent shear flow
Abstract
Numerical simulations for turbulent shear flow are used to produce kinematic models for use as starting flows, initial conditions, or boundary conditions for complete threedimensional LagrangianEulerian numerical solutions. The simulations include turbulent flow in a channel and vortex model studies of vortical flows in the viscous sublayer. The relationships between vortex model parameters defining a particular pseudoturbulent flow and the local statistical properties of the actual fluid velocity signals are discussed.
