Generation of largescale vortices in compressible helical turbulence
Abstract
Generation of largescale vortices in a compressible selfgravitating turbulent medium is considered. The closed equation describing evolution of the largescale vortices in helical turbulence with finite correlation time is obtained. This equation has a form similar to the hydromagnetic dynamo equation, which allows the vortex generation effect to be called the vortex dynamo. It is possible that principally the same mechanism is responsible both for amplification and maintenance of density waves and magnetic fields in gaseous disks of spiral galaxies.
