Fiber optic Fabry-Perot temperature sensors
Abstract
Reflectively monitored, interferometric temperature sensors which make use of partially reflecting mirrors fabricated in a continuous length of single mode silica fiber are described. The sensors can be very compact (as short as 1.5 mm) and are mechanically rugged. Multiplexed sensors have been operated with a single light source and photodetector. Theoretical sensitivities are in the submillidegree C range. Progress in the ongoing development of signal processing electronics for the sensors will be described.
