Sub-decimeter kinematic positioning becomes a distinct possibility by using differential GPS techniques. Both pseudo range and carrier phase observables can be used for this purpose. In the case of the latter, it is essential to continuously monitor, detect and correct cycle slips. Clearly, the methods used for cycle slip detection and correction in static surveying are not appropriate in a kinematic environment. The paper will review a number of techniques which have been proposed, indicating their relative merits, and will discuss improved alternatives in the light of experimental results.
