A method for measuring the heat flux by thermal indicator coatings
Abstract
An analysis is made of the random and systematic errors involved in the measurements of heat flux using thermal indicators of melting. A heat conductivity model is proposed which allows for the effect of heat dissipation, and formulas are obtained for estimating errors that occur when heat dissipation is not taken into account. An approximate method is proposed for introducing corrections for the heat flux peak. Methods of increasing the accuracy of measurement results are recommended.
