Low temperature long-time energy relaxation in LiCl · 7H 2O
Abstract
Measuring the heat capacity and the time dependence of the power released after the rapid cooling of the sample from various equilibrium temperatures to 1.5 K, the density of states of the two-level systems and its time and energy dependences was determined. The results agree with the tunnelling theory up to very large temperatures (10 K). The density of states in the electrolyte glass is about 10 times larger than in vitreous silica.
