Approximate theory of natural convection with small Grashof number
Abstract
An approximate theory for the convective motion of fluids with a small Grashof number has been developed to study the behavior of lowgravity flows for material processing in space. The expansion of variables into a series of Grashof number is used to reduce the Boussinesq equation to a system of weakly coupled linearly inhomogeneous equations. The theory is used to study twodimensional steady flows in circular or square inifinte closed cylinders. Results for the stream function, velocity, and temperature are given to demonstrate the theory.
