Overshoots of radiowave scattering cross sections in the atmosphere
Abstract
Probability distributions of fluctuations of the temperature structure characteristic in the atmospheric boundary layer were measured from an aircraft at heights from 100 to 400 m. It is shown that the probability distribution of local values exceeding the mean value along the path is close to lognormal. A simple empirical model is proposed for the probability of random overshoots of the effective radiowave scattering cross section.
