General Conference of the Condensed Matter Division of the European Physical Society, 8th, Budapest, Hungary, Apr. 6-9, 1988, Proceedings
Abstract
Various papers on condensed matter are presented. Some of the individual topics discussed include: electrically conducting organic polymers: connections between geometric and electronic structure; superconducting state properties of high T(c) oxides; nuclear magnetic and nuclear quadrupole resonance studies in high temperature superconductors; oxygen-induced phase changes in YBa2Cu3O(6 + delta); correlated electronic structure of the high-T(c) superconductor RE1Ba2Cu3(7 - x) phase and possible interlayer pairing; comparison of three methods to determine the energy gap of YBa2Cu3O(7 - delta); and hysteresis of microwave absorption and magnetic moments of high-temperature superconductors. Also addressed are: statistical mechanics of neural networks; dynamics of learning in simple perceptrons; novel tunneling phenomena in quantum wells and superlattices; waves and turbulence at interfaces; entropy of dissipative and turbulent structures; optical bistable devices for memory and logic; quantum kinetic equations for strongly inhomogeneous systems; and crystallography of quasi-crystals.
