On supposed novae in M 31.
Abstract
Several objects presumed to be novae with unusual light variations are studied from plates of M 31 taken from 1967 to 1988. Presumed novae H 26, H 36 and H 39, as well as the Hubble variable V 20, should be considered irregular variables, Hubble-Sandage objects similar to Var 2 and Var C in M 33 but less luminous. The Grubissich-Rosino Nova R 15, several outbursts of which have been detected, is a galactic variable of U Gem type (subtype SU UMa). Of probably the same type are the objects R 48 = R 79 and R 66 = R 81.
