The unusual binary system OV Tauri.
Abstract
A study of 180 photographs revealed that OV Tauri is a binary system which varies its brightness with an orbital period of 6.427 d. The sinusoidal shape of the light curve is caused by the reflection effect. The amplitude of this variation changes from 1.3 to 0.5 m with a period of 110 d. The history of the study of the variable is presented and attention is given to the similarity of the light curves and the periods of OV Tau and V1343 Aql (SS 433).
