On the frequency of occurrence of disk galaxies with a "two-humped" curve of rotation.
Abstract
If the density distribution in disks and bulges of galaxies follows the luminosity distribution of these components, then a significant part of the galaxies must have a two-humped curve of rotation which passes through a local minimum in the inner part of the galaxy. It is shown that the VK galaxies must amount to a significant part of all disk galaxies. Consideration is given to a simplified two-component model of the galaxy in which the density distribution in disks and bulges corresponds to the standard law of the brightness distribution of these components.
