Radiative transfer in spherical geometry
Abstract
The Eddington approximation generalized for spherical geometry is reinvestigated. A singularity leading possibly to numerical instability in one of the key equations in the previous theory (Unno and Kondo 1976; AAA 17.063.043) is removed for purposes of a better presentation and easier application of the theory. For illustration, calculations are performed for the grey Kosirev envelope.
