A flashlamp-pumped dye laser with a SBS phase-conjugate resonator
Abstract
The operation of a phase-conjugate laser resonator employing a phase conjugate reflector and a flashlamp-pumped dye has been demonstrated. The phase conjugation was produced by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in liquids. Temporally-resolved measurements of the spectral, spatial and power characteristics of the laser output are reported. The divergence of the output beam has been improved by an order of magnitude over a comparable conventional laser resonator but the output duration is restricted due to the transient nature of SBS.
