Improvements to incompressible flow calculation on a nonstaggered curvilinear grid
Abstract
A new algorithm for the solution of twodimensional elliptic flows in curvilinear coordinates by means of an equalorder pressurevelocity coupling scheme is presented. This algorithm, called the modified semiimplicit method for pressurelined equations (SIMPLEM), is shown to be superior to the SIMPLE algorithm of Rhie and Chow (1983) and to the revised SIMPLE algorithm in nonstaggered curvilinear meshes. Oscillation is totally suppressed by this simple yet effective scheme.
